A NEW CHAPTER: DETROIT JOINS THE AWFL
from the Front Office
There are moments in building an organization when you have the opportunity to pause and truly appreciate how far the vision has come. Today is one of those moments.
We are incredibly proud to share that The Detroit Diamondstrikes will compete in the American Women’s Football League (AWFL) beginning with the 2027 season.
For our coaches and senior leadership, this represents far more than selecting a league. It represents progress toward the vision we set out to build: a professional women’s tackle football organization that gives athletes a place to compete, fans a team to call their own, and Detroit another opportunity to showcase the incredible talent within our community.
We know the responsibility that comes with building something new. We’re committed to doing it the right way with intention, professionalism, community at the center, and a standard that represents Detroit.
To everyone who has supported this vision, encouraged us, asked questions, shared our announcements, and believed in what we’re building, thank you.
And to the women who will eventually put on our uniform and represent this city, we’re building this with you in mind.
The league is set.
The foundation is being built.
Now, the real work begins.
We can’t wait to bring you along for the journey to 2027.
With Gratitude,
Torria Tucker, President / CEO
